Privilege and debate.
Privilege is a dangerous word to use when debating, so here’s a little reminder to myself and others who use it:
Don’t use the word ‘privilege’ as a way to be less critical of yourself and your own opinions. Having experiences of oppression does not mean you are always right when you talk about them.
Do not let ‘You are just privileged’ be a way to say ‘I don’t like your opinion but I don’t know how to refute it’. Leave room for the possibility that you’re losing an argument because you are wrong.
